He did. He passed on the first try on August 30, 1968. After Joe Biden graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in history, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force with the intention of becoming a Pilot. However, he was discharged before his studies were completed after being found to have an irregular heartbeat that would have disqualified him from being a pilot.
